About Us

The PDCC is comprised of 68 representatives from each Ward, 2 in each district, elected by Plainfield Democrats, your neighbors, to facilitate 2-way dialogue and share feedback to ensure our leadership focuses on the issues that matter to you. Our vision is to ensure a better quality of life for all our residents and a better city for us to live in.

The PDCC Chairman, our Mayor, Adrian Mapp, supported by our Democratic city council members is delivering on the priorities important to you::

  • Affordable Living 

    • Real estate taxes have remained flat for the past 4 years while providing a 5% sewer service rebate for owners of one-to-four-unit residential properties for 2023 

  • Fitness, Entertainment and Recreation 

    • Plainfield Performing Arts Center (P-PAC) welcomes 10, 000+ attendees each year â—‹ 11 parks and playgrounds, 3 pools community pools including a state-of-the-art spray park at our Rushmore Recreational Complex opening in 2024 

    • Mayor's Wellness campaign recognized by New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute for the 5th year in a row 

    • A growing set of activities and fairs for the whole family to enjoy e.g. Easter Egg hunt, Independence Day Parade, Hip Hop Festival, House Music Festival, Art Festival, Health and Wellness Fair, Holiday Tree Lighting Festival, Pre-Kwanzaa Festival 

    • Planned Plainfield Center of Excellence Facility – a 50,000 s/f hub for the community, encompassing recreational, educational, and cultural programming and services

  • Modern Infrastructure 

    • We have made significant progress in repaving all roadways in the City of Plainfield with over 50% of the project

    • Improved signage, traffic signals, and speed deterrents on key roadways in our efforts to make our streets safer for

    • Installing wi-fi in public spaces to ensure universal Internet access to all residents 

  • Smart Development and Economic Growth 

    • To date blighted lots have been converted into over 70 + market rate, mixed use dwellings bringing additional revenue to our city 

    • On track to the development of over 5,000 new high quality residential units and 450,000 s/f of new commercial / retail

    • Providing grants and training to our small business/ entrepreneurs to foster their success
